RESULTS AND GAMES + GALLERY

In an unforgettable tournament, Brazil won the South American Men's Final of the South American Beach Volleyball Tour by beating Venezuela in a spectacular match by 2-1 with scores by 21-18, 19-21 and 15-12 and also got the leadership of the 2018 season in the ranking by countries.

The pair of Vitor Felipe Gonçalves and Gustavo Albrecht Carvalhaes was close to the elimination in the semifinals against Argentina, but achieved a remarkable title against Venezuela (Carlos Rangel-Jose Gregorio Gomez) that heroically eliminated Chile from the final also in tie break. Chile, with Marco and Esteban Grimalt, won the bronze medal.

The final was a unique story with Brazil dominating the first set and pressing on "Tigrito" Gómez in the final for the 21-18. In the second the Brazilian team dominated until the Venezuelan 20-19 and a defense of Tigrito that finished in point, stretched the game to tie beak. There, Brazil dominated an even game and with the block by Vitor Felipe and the defense of Guto, the pair got the title.

Venezuela beat Chile in an incredible game. The first set was for them by 21-16, and in the second part, a strong blow on Carlos Rangel seemed to take him out of the game. The blocker recovered but Chile already had dominion on the partial that was closed 14-21. Two blocks of Rangel closed the story 15-13 in the tie break for the qualification to the final.

Argentina dominated the entire game against Brazil and lost control in the closing of the two sets. The 23-21 and 21-18 of the visitors came after an important recovery in each set.

Chile managed to take advantage of Argentina's mistakes by Julian Azaad and Nicolas Capogrosso to define 21-12 and 21-17 in the duel for third place.

"It was a tough and unforgettable tournament against a struggling team like Venezuela, it was exciting to win this final in this way" said the two-time champion Guto.

"We fought until the end, we did everything possible, but we missed the final. We are happy, we want to continue improving" said José Gregorio Gómez.
