YOG: BUENOS AIRES 2018 STARTS ITS WAY

THE WAY OF THE ARGENTINE PAIRS - OFFICIAL WEBSITE

What seemed so far is a reality around the corner. Next Saturday, with the inauguration ceremony on the 9 de Julio Avenue -for the first time in history outside of a stadium-, the 2018 Buenos Aires Youth Olympic Games will be launched, which will feature beach volleyball as specialty, with the participation of two Argentine pairs, one for each branch from Sunday.

Argentina will be represented in the female branch by Brenda Churín and Delfina Villar, while in the male branch will be Mauro Zelayeta and Bautista Amieva. The competition will be held at the Green Park, located in Palermo. It is the largest multi-sport competition in the history of Argentina, 3rd edition worldwide after Singapore 2010 and Nanjing 2014 oriented to teenagers between 15 and 18 years. The Argentine volleyball won medals in both editions; silver in Singapore in indoor and bronze in Nanjing, in beach volleyball.

The Organizing Committee Buenos Aires 2018 will be represented by its president, Gerardo Werthein; and its executive director, Leandro Larrosa.

Argentina will have the largest delegation in the competition, the first time in Olympic history, with gender equality in its composition. The Argentine team will be composed of 141 athletes who will participate in 32 sports of Buenos Aires 2018.

The opening ceremony will be at the Obelisco, where 2,000 people will participate, led by Fuerza Bruta. Once the competition has begun, more than 8,000 volunteers will support the development of the event, which will take place in eight locations (divided in the City, Vicente Lopez and San Isidro) and 42 different stadiums.

Regarding sports, 4,012 athletes will compete, and 241 will be medals events.
