On November 15 and 16 in the city of Cancun, Mexico, the 36th World Congress of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) will be held, which will have presidents and representatives of all national federations. Juan Antonio Gutierrez will attend as President of the FIVB Sports Events Council while Juan Galeote will be representing the Argentine Volleyball Federation. In the Congress, important issues will be discussed regarding calendars, qualification systems, game rules and the institutional life of the Federation.

After the last edition held in Buenos Aires in 2016, this year the World Congress will move to Mexico with several points to discuss in the different working commissions. In addition, the traditional reports will be made by areas and also will take place the presentation of projects by confederation. Gutierrez, who was host at the historic Congress 2016 that re-elected Ary Graça for 8 years, will travel together with Galeote next Monday to the north of the continent.

The most important topics about sports will be a new review of the competition calendar in order to give the best possible shape for the convenience of players, clubs and national teams considering the prestige of each event. In addition, the qualification systems for the 2022 World Championships and for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be defined.

Regarding the rules of the game, the most resonant change is the elimination of the restriction line for coaches on the field along with other small revisions that will also happen on the rules of beach volleyball. About the Government, finally, changes will be presented regarding the Constitution of the FIVB and the Rules of Procedure of the Congress that after an exhaustive revision seek approval.
