Argentina is 7th in the male branch and 11th in the female one and has rivals defined for the intercontinental qualifiers.

The new system to qualify for the Olympic Games will have a first stage of intercontinental tournaments that will distribute the first six places for Tokyo. The 24 best teams of each branch will be divided into six groups of four divided according to the serpentine system and each pool winner will have a berth for the Games.

In the case of the Men's National Team, it will face Canada, Finland and China. Meanwhile, the girls will face the United States, Bulgaria and Kazakhstan. The tournaments will be played between August 9 and 11, 2019.

The second stage of the qualifier will be played in continental tournaments (Argentina competing in South America) to be played in January 2020 and will give the last five places, since Japan, as organizer, will have its reserved quota. The road to the next Games is already underway.
