Argentina will be again the scenery of the best level of international volleyball and will do it again in San Juan. After the first edition of the VNL at the mythical Aldo Cantoni in June, the Government of the province of San Juan renewed its commitment to take the tournament back next year. In it, the Men's National Team of Marcelo Méndez will face Portugal, Canada and Bulgaria in the first weekend of the Volleyball Nations League.

The VNL at San Juan was a complete success, with an Argentine victory over Italy included in the closing of an unforgettable weekend. After that experience in the middle of the year, the Governor Sergio Uñac redoubled the bet and assumed the commitment with the Argentine Volleyball Federation to receive the National Team again. About the decision, the Governor said: "The passion we have for sports has a lot to do with this idea. People of San Juan are athletes by nature; what we have done was to identify a social fact and turn it into a great opportunity to promote sports and to do it together with education, the pillars of social construction. In addition, sport can be a great factor to develop the tourism of the province” assured Uñac.

Government support will have a key role in the work team of the Sport State Secretary of San Juan, chaired by Jorge Chica and with extensive experience in organizing high level events. Regarding the new commitment assumed, Chica highlighted the importance that this type of tournaments have for the province: "Betting on events, we give hope to many kids. We have 19 sport initiation schools with many children who have competed for the first time in children and youth tournaments. We give the opportunity to four professional teams and high performance athletes from our province to compete against the best in the world”.

The Secretary also mentioned the passion for volleyball in the province, a cradle of volleyball players in our country and land of historical teams such as Obras and UPCN: "Volleyball, cycling, hockey and soccer are the sports that are the most representative in San Juan. In volleyball we have two teams at the national level and also in the second category, and that makes that the great results are always those of the discipline".

The FeVA President, Juan Antonio Gutiérrez, who attended as a guest at the presentation of the traditional Cycling Tour of San Juan where he met the Governor and the Secretary, expressed his admiration for San Juan's work: "Sport is on the agenda of the Governor of San Juan and that allows not only support and commitment of work for the federations, but also crystallizes what is often theory: that sport is a tool of health, integration and education. It has been demonstrating with facts those principles and we are very happy to be part of that commitment that is made in the province”.

With venue and confirmed rivals, work begins to receive the National Team in San Juan in what will be the first official performance of Marcelo Méndez's team in our country.
