CONTINENTAL CUP: THE ARGENTINE FEMALE TEAMS WILL COMPETE IN PARAGUAY

CONTINENTAL CUP IN MAR DEL PLATA

The road to the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020 is on for the beach volleyball and next weekend the first phase of the qualifying tournament for the male and female branches will continue. The Continental Cup will have action in Mar del Plata and Asunción this 22 and 23 to define berths to the final phase of the competition. Ana Gallay/Fernanda Pereyra and Virginia Zonta/Brenda Churín will compete in Paraguayan lands with Peru, Bolivia and the locals for their quota in the definition.

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) established the qualification system for Tokyo 2020 through the CSV Continental Cup, a tournament that gives a berth for South America and in which 12 nations divided in groups participate. This weekend the men's tournament will have Mar del Plata as venue of Pool B, while the girls will make their debut in Pool C in Asuncion.

After the first phase for Pool B was played in Coquimbo, qualifying Colombia to the final phase, the moment for the national pairs is coming. Gallay/Pereyra and Zonta/Churín will face on Friday and Saturday Michelle/Pati and Filippo/Erika from Paraguay, Gaona/Cinthia and Serna/Calle from Peru and Ale/Melissa and Ana Claudia/Dayra from Bolivia. The winning duo will get a ticket to the final phase of the contest on the way to the Olympic Games.

On the other hand, in Mar del Plata, Nicolás Capogrosso/Julián Azaad and Mauro Zelayeta/Bautista Amieva will receive in the Biology Club the winner of Colombia-Ecuador for their place in the final phase.
