This Friday at the Sheraton Hotel in the city of Mendoza was the official launching of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL), which will be held at the Aconcagua Arena stadium on May 31, June 1 and 2. There, the Argentine National team led by Marcelo Mendez will face Canada, Bulgaria and Portugal for the first weekend of the preliminary round of the tournament.

The launching was attended by Celia Montaruli, 4th Vice-President of the Argentine Volleyball Federation and President of the Mendoza Federation; Rodrigo Araya, Director of Federated and High Performance Sports of the Sports Secretariat of the province; Elvio Santiago and Carlos Videla, part of the VNL Commission; and the Mendoza player and middle blocker of the Argentine Team, Agustin Loser.

"For us it is a pride and a challenge as Federation to organize an event of this magnitude, where the whole volleyball family has been involved in a great commitment. I think it will be an event that will allow the growth of our sport. We want to highlight the support of the Government of Mendoza, as well as the one given by FeVA, which has put all its trust in us" said Montaruli.

On behalf of the provincial government, Araya said: "We didn't give only the stadium, but also the support to a Federation and a sport that is still amateur. It is there where we have to be: in the logistics and in supporting everything they need so that the event goes fine and it helps in the development of the sport. Beyond a full stadium and a great show, the most important thing is the impact of this event on the sport in its lower divisions, in the improvement of its coaches and in that its athletes have more and more possibilities". In addition, he added his satisfaction for hosting the VNL: "It is an event of great hierarchy in a stadium that for the first time will receive an official competition of very high level".

Representing the national team was the middle blocker from Mendoza, Loser, who said: "For me it is a real pride to be here; this launching makes me to start to feel the national team climate. Playing in front of the Mendoza´s fans with the Argentine Team would be a very nice and strange feeling at the same time". Regarding the new cycle with the Argentine squad he added: "Several days ago the coach called me and a new challenge begins for me. I will have to work to earn a place on the team because I want to be in Mendoza to play the VNL" he said.

It will be the second season for the FIVB Volleyball Nations League and Mendoza will be one of the opening venues. This is the official debut of the National Team in Gran Mendoza at the extraordinary Aconcagua Arena that has a capacity for 8,400 people.
