The great South American men's derby between Argentina and Brazil will be played in August in Calafate, Santa Cruz for the first time in history. The teams will play two games on the 23 and 24th on their preparation for the South American Championship and the World Cup in Japan.

The current Olympic champion Brazil will arrive at the tourist village of El Calafate for the first time to face the team of Marcelo Méndez in the second stage of the international calendar.

The event will be held in the new and spectacular Municipal Stadium of El Calafate, and will be organized by the Argentine Volleyball Federation, the mayor of the town Javier Belloni and the Volleyball Federation of Santa Cruz.

"Our goal is to have a federal sport and take our teams to every corner of the country. We are achieving this with the effort and challenges of many people" said FeVA President, Juan Antonio Gutierrez.

Fernando Pandolfi, president of the Federation of Santa Cruz, visited the venue with Mayor Belloni and said: "It is a historic moment because it is going to inaugurate a unique stadium, often seen in cities of around 1 million inhabitants or more. This means that Santa Cruz is positioned at a national and international level with an event of the highest level".

It is a long time job to reach this final goal. "It will be a volleyball party for all of us who love this sport" said Pandolfi.
