A new chapter was written tonight in the history of Argentine volleyball after the national victory over Cuba in the final of the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima. The National Team beat the Cubans by 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25 -20) and got its third gold medal after those obtained in Mar del Plata 1995 and Toronto 2015.

It was a solid performance from Argentina, which required just 1:30hs to beat the Cubans. With Germán Johansen as the top scorer with 13 points, followed by Jan Martínez's 12, the National Team ended undefeated in Peru.

López Castro started doing a lot of damage on offense, but the ones led by Horacio Dileo managed to contain him and varied their attack fronts with Matías Sanchez to get the first advantage of the game. The performance of Cuba decreased in the second part, while Argentina grew and was certain in all the fundamentals to approach to the golden medal.

Johansen remained active on his side and now joined the contributions of Imhoff and Bruno to dominate in the third quarter. Leon seemed to revive his team together with Osoria, but the National Team did not slow down and ended up imposing 25-20 to become Pan American champion.
